Ev’rything that we have,
Ev’rything that we are,
Ev’ry moment is a blessing from above.
It’s endless love that we breathe.
It’s endless love that we receive.
What has freely come we now let freely go.
— Bret Hesla

We are called to give our time, talents and treasures, in gratitude for what our loving God has first given us.

Salem is an incredibly generous community of faith and giving back with our time and our talents is something everyone can do. Whether it is reading the lesson in worship or volunteering time to assemble hospice kits, there are ways to give back that all make a difference. Here are just a few of the ways YOU can give back with us:
  • Reading in worship
  • Offering special music for worship
  • Helping with Coffee Fellowship
  • Participating in God’s Work Our Hands service projects (hospice and newborn kits, advocacy letters, and much more)
  • Handing out popsicles at Open Streets Minneapolis
  • Volunteering at our annual Wine and Jazz event
  • Set up and clean up for congregational events
  • Packing meals at the Every Meal warehouse
  • Leading Sunday morning programming for children or youth
  • Sanctuary Switch
  • Service on a ministry team
  • Volunteer with our yearly South Minneapolis Day Camp
  • Serve on the Salem Council
  • Help plan worship and our worship space
  • Helping to livestream worship

Thank you for your giving! From the checks that come in the mail that fulfill a pledge or offer a special gift in honor of something important to the regular giving that happens all online, your gifts make a difference.

There are many ways to financially contribute to our ministries.

Cash or Checks
We receive cash and checks mailed to the office or placed in the offering basket during Sunday worship. Use the memo line on your check to specify where to direct your donation. You may mail all cash or check donations to Salem Lutheran Church 610 West 28th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55408.

Online Giving
If you would like to give online, you can use one of three methods:

  • For one time or occasional gifts, you can give through PayPal, Venmo (@SalemUptown), or GiveMN.
  • For regular or recurring gifts, you can contact Laurie in the office to be set up through our Vanco regular giving.

Other Ways to Give
Thrivent Action Teams
Live Generously is the tagline for a program called “Thrivent Action Teams.” These teams are a part of Thrivent Financial’s strategy to give back to the broader community through our hands and feet and creative ideas. Each $250 Thrivent Action Team Grant is awarded for service projects, educational events, or fundraisers that excite you. Projects that are approved (by Thrivent Financial) receive a $250 gift card that can be used for your project.

Endowment:
As a living endowment of faithful members with rich gifts and varied talent, our congregation established the Salem English Evangelical Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund. The purpose of this fund is to enhance the mission and outreach of the congregation beyond our
general fund.

There are many ways to contribute to the Mission Endowment Fund.
  • Monetary donations
  • Gifts of stocks or other appreciated assets
  • Bequests through a will
  • Life insurance policies
  • Gift made in honor or memory of a loved one.

We would love to talk to you about your unique ways of honoring the ministry we do through your own legacy of giving. Contact the office or Pastor Rhonda to begin the conversation.
We are a Spirit-led, welcoming, and bold Christian community, rooted in the neighborhood, striving to live faithfully in God’s world.
